Somatic Psychotherapy
S
Somatic Psychotherapy is a psychoanalytic therapeutic approach that combines verbal exploration with work through the body. It is based on the understanding that life experiences are not only processed through thought, but are also inscribed in the body and, consequently, in the muscular and nervous systems. Through Character Analysis, as well as the application of specialized somatic activations, the therapeutic process aims not only at understanding deeper psychological patterns, but also at their gradual and meaningful transformation.
The process follows the core principles of psychotherapeutic and psychoanalytic work, grounded in consistency, confidentiality, and the development of a safe therapeutic relationship. Sessions are typically held on a weekly basis and last 50 minutes. The initial phase focuses on taking a thorough personal history, allowing for the development of an individualized therapeutic plan based on both the client’s background and their present request.
Depending on each individual, the integration of somatic work may vary in timing and intensity, unfolding gradually and in alignment with the person’s readiness and therapeutic needs.
