Perinatal Counseling
P
regnancy is a significant transitional phase in a woman’s life. Prenatal Counseling provides a safe space for support and preparation for the emotional and psychological changes that accompany this new experience, fostering connection with both oneself and the baby.
Life begins from the very moment of conception, and the quality and depth of the exchange between mother and infant is already meaningful for both. Alongside the beginning of pregnancy, another process unfolds—the gradual emergence of the maternal role within the woman. This new identity carries instincts, expectations, anxieties, responsibility, and a profound capacity for love.
The well-being of mothers and their infants is one of the most fundamental pillars of any society. Yet, many women go through this transition without adequate support, often burdened by guilt, unrealistic expectations, and external pressures—while navigating a deeply transformative period filled with emotional and physical changes.
Within prenatal counseling, these different aspects are gently explored and supported, allowing space for the mother to connect more deeply with herself and her baby. At the same time, the process helps to build strong foundations for early communication and bonding. The mother is supported in strengthening her confidence in this new role, while also working through personal experiences or unresolved elements of her own history that may interfere with her ability to fully inhabit it.
The process is primarily supportive and aims to facilitate emotional preparation for motherhood, as well as provide guidance during the early stages of the baby’s life, up to the first year. The frequency and duration of the sessions are shaped collaboratively, depending on the individual needs and circumstances of each mother.
